Not Liberated by the BIG chop

When I did the BIG chop and began my natural hair journey back in 2007 I did not feel liberated. I had been growing my hair out all summer and come August I  let my college roommate cut my hair. She had dreads and was into all the natural things.  I was like oh she knows what shes doing. She cut my hair and I think I was delusional about how much my hair had grown. I was like uh no ma'am get some braids ASAP.  Me and short hair do not mix. My curls are coily and TIGHT...shrinkage is a b*tch!
